A Coach in Your Pocket That Never Sees Your Data

ulTrain's Personal Coach writes you a short read on how your training is going. It runs on your phone, so none of your training history leaves the device.

A black and white silhouette of a runner in a cap against a pale, overcast sky.

I never wanted ulTrain to have a chat bot bolted onto the side of it. There are enough of those.

But there is a real job a good coach does that a pile of charts does not. They look at your last few weeks and tell you, in a sentence or two, what is actually going on and what to do about it.

What Personal Coach does

Open a plan, or your week, and Personal Coach gives you a short summary. Something like:

You are three weeks into build. Volume is tracking about 8% ahead of target, but your long runs have crept up faster than the midweek runs. Ease the midweek back a little or the long run quality will start to drop.

Nothing clever in how it reads. It is meant to sound like the note you would get from a coach glancing at your log for thirty seconds.

A hand holding a phone outdoors, showing a day's walking, running distance and step count.

The part I care about

It runs on your phone. On iPhone it uses Apple Intelligence, on device. Your training history, your paces, your notes, none of it is sent anywhere to produce that summary.

No account with an AI company. No copy of your training sitting in someone’s prompt logs. The model is on the phone, the data stays on the phone, and the summary appears. That was a hard requirement, not a nice to have.

It is a Pro feature, on iPhone now, and it is the next big thing coming to Android.

It will not replace a real coach if you need one. For the weeks in between, when you just want a sensible second opinion, it does the job.
